Description

The People's Library "Veljko Dugošević" Golubac was established on December 28, 1995, by the decision of the Golubac Municipality Assembly, as an independent cultural institution continuing the tradition of the "Golubac Reading Room and Library" founded in Golubac in 1871.

With its relocation to new premises in 2021, the library has improved its operations and expanded its capability to present its valuable content. In addition to its core library and information services, the library is engaged in cultural and educational activities, promoting books, organizing literary evenings, book promotions, concerts, debates, and workshops. Within the library, a Gallery of Modern Art has been established, hosting over 20 exhibitions where artists from the country and the region have had the opportunity to present their work to the public.

The Cultural Artistic Society, an integral part of the Library, follows all cultural events in the municipality's territory and participates in its representation.

During the summer, there is significant activity in supporting, participating in, and independently organizing outdoor events. The library organizes events such as "Dan Dunava" (Day of the Danube) and "Dan Mladih" (Youth Day), co-organizes the "Sajam Dunava" (Danube Fair), and collaborates on all other events within the Golubac municipality.
